Remove the Guessing Game
Almost every “to be” wed couple would, if given a choice, love to receive gifts from their friends and loved one that they are able to use when setting up their new home. And every guest would like to give the newly weds something they really want and something they know they would use and be remembered by.
So…why not remove the guessing game and give the couple and their guest what they want. That is where a Gift Registry is of help…Bride & Groom are able to select items that they need and want for their new home and guest's have the confidence that they are buying something meaningful for the newly weds rather than giving them something which will either be stored away or become a recycled gift.
Do Your Guest a Favour
Yes, no wedding guest is obliged to get you a gift but most do…so why not give your guest an opportunity to get you the right gift. You may not realize this but you are actually doing your guest a favour. Just think about when you had to buy someone a gift…if you knew them well you would ask them directly. If you did not, you’d first try asking someone who knew them better or in most times you buy them what you think makes perfect sense as a gift. Little do you realize that the “perfect sense” of a gift is what the other 50 to 100 other guest will be getting them and the couple land up getting a multiple of the same set of gifts.
Gift Selection & Price
The Gift Registry allows couples to select a wide range of products/services from a range of traditional items (like cookware, small electrical appliances, bed & bath and linens) to not so traditional items (like spa packages and designer stuff). Couples can choose items that match their personality and style. How cool is that!
The other good thing is that the price range falls under
- low-price
- medium-low
- medium-high
- high-price
so you can select items that can suit the budget of each of your guest.
Ready To Register
You can start registering as soon as you get engaged. What this allows you to do is have an option of changing your mind and deleting and adding items before anyone makes a purchase. Go through the following time-line to give you an idea of when to start registering.
6 to 12 Months
- Start browsing the gift selection with your hubby “to be”. It is important that you involve your other half as many of the items that you will be choosing will be household items and he too will be part of this new home
- Determine the price range that your guest will be comfortable with. Make sure you select items that fall in the low, medium and high price range. While having a low price range allows those with a tight budget an opportunity to buy something for you, having a high price range will help those who are looking at buying you a combined gift an opportunity to share and give you something meaningful (e.g. office mates usually like giving their colleagues a combined gift)
- Identify items that you will definitely need (e.g. kitchenware and small electrical appliances) and add those items to your wish list. Use our Gift List selector to assist you
- Next browse and look at items that you want
- Visit Participating stores that have walk-in My Chocolate Mousse Gift Registry facility
- Contact your Gift Registry Manager and inform them of your favorite store and ask them to assist you in adding them (your favorite store) in your wish list
3 to 6 Months
- Go through your list and add new items that are now available. You can add as many items as you want as long as they are items that you either need or want and items that you will use. There’s nothing worse than registering for items that you neither need nor want and getting it as a gift
- Remove items that you no longer want in your wish list
- Complete your list
- Make sure you have updated your very own web page (if you have created one) and add any important wedding information in it before you inform your guest about it
- Many of your guests may make use of the delivery options available to them so make sure your Residence address and Reception site address are the correct one provided to your Gift Registry Manager
- Send a link of your very own web page/gift registry to your close family members and friends
- Inform family and friends living overseas about your web page. This will give them an opportunity to write a few words in your online guest book and if they want, have the ability to buy you a gift which they know you will cherish even if they are not able to make it to your “big day”.
- Get family members familiarised with your web site address (if you have created your very own web page) so that they can inform other family members and friends about it
1 to 3 Months
- Send Invitation cards out. You may want to add your web site address to inform guest
- Log on to your Gift Registry to view your wish list and to see what has already been purchased.
On The Wedding Day
- Assign someone to be in charge of gifts
- Make sure you have a section (whether you have your reception at home, at a restaurant or at a hotel) where guest can go to leave their gifts
- Person assigned should record gifts as they are given. This will help in identifying if any of the gift boxes go missing
